I have a responsibility in my networking group to conjure up pithy questions for the members to discuss, and thus draw closer as we get more personal in our answers.
Sometimes it’s a challenge to formulate the themes to bind us, and mostly they come to me in odd places, such as driving (pull over and write it down) or in the shower, or inspired by a book. Sometimes it comes in waves, multiple questions at a time.
And some networking group members send them to me, I accept them as a gift. This time, Dan Cole, the group leader did, and it’s a good one, and it comes from James Clear’s 3-2-1 Newsletter:
Imagine there is a small version of you and a big version.
- When small, you are timid, feel “less than,” and surrounded by people and projects that drain you.
- When big, you are confident, motivated, and you invest in people and projects that energize you.
How can you invest more time playing the big version of yourself?
We all grow and shrink and rise up again in perceived stature along an invisible time continuum. 2024 is a growth year for me, bringing back some of the themes from past years, adding new ones and polishing perpetual ones.
My answer to the question:
Oldie but goodie: I still believe in nourish to flourish, as I mentioned in this blog piece from 2018.
New one: I mentioned blogged here in December 2023, this new year is my co-collaboration year. I am pleased to say that I have co-presented with several best-in-class colleagues and the product of our collaboration was better than anticipated. More to come…
Perpetual ones: no surprise to you if you read me here regularly, as I harp (in the best-intended ways) on expressing your why, perfecting your writing with reasons you give more than you receive, and, of course, to be amazing-er than your competition.
Now it’s your turn to answer; old, new and perpetual: what does the BIG YOU invest energy into? Words, people, please. No emojis as an answer.
And how can you restate your BIGness on your LinekdIn profile too?
