You get a few places to offer your email address (and cell number I might add) on your LinkedIn profile:

  • the first place most people look, and the most obvious place, is on your Contact Info. Yet you would be amazed at how many profiles lack any contact details, even job seekers (!) and lacking it is a dead end for someone who wants to contact you. What if they want to set up a zoom with you? Then they have to find another way to contact you (arrgh!) Why make them work so hard to get a hold of you?
  • another place that makes sense is embedding your contact info into the graphics in your banner. I just did. Front and center, no place is more obvious and easy to find, however it is not “copy-pasteable,” a drawback, and takes me back to my comment in the bullet point above.
  • finally, add a line as a final thought you leave a reader in your About section. It shows you are open and approachable. But did they read that far? It depends how smart your profile is for the reader to want to know all about you. The final line in my About says:

Straightforward and easy to find. Again, not copy-pasteable, but it prevents someone from leaving my About section to search elsewhere for my contact info.

Email and text.

Yes, I use my cell number and you do too. So list it here please.

There, now you have 3 places to make yourself easily accessible.

Did I leave one out? Let me know.

Most importantly, did you leave any of these out?
