I encountered this word on a bottle of clothing dye that I picked up that had fallen to the floor in a store, luckily it had not leaked, but I never saw the word before. I could tell it was black dye, but “azabache”?
Turns out it means “jet black” in Spanish.
Not just black.
Not just as in the deep, deep green-black my neighbor painted his house, which looks darkest greenish in some sunlight and jet black in others.
But as in things in our world are not black or white, or any other color, but shades in between.
If you need convincing, go to a paint store and look at all the names they devised for whites and blacks and grays.
Or is it greys?
See, neither grey nor gray, but shades between.
LinkedIn comments are neither black nor white. Everyone has an opinion to add, and the greys/grays are rich and enticing. Jump into a posted conversation, add your shades of meaning, when you have something meaningful to add. And not an emoji, but you know my opinion on that already.
Or add a new post when you have something important to inform the readers, make them feel, make them believe, or want them to do something. Elicit comments with a call-to-action question.
Nothing is azabache anymore.
