My friend became a grandparent last week. That new child is a blank slate. So much to learn, for both of them.

My clients are busy rewriting their LinkedIn profiles, given the empowerment and redirection to show themselves to the global business market in a new, improved, and restated way.

Myself? I stared at this template a few minutes ago and had no idea what to say (yes, I can say that happens often in my 2500+ posts but soemhow I find the incentive and inspiration).

New job? Rewrite your career narrative on LinkedIn with your newfound excitement and challenge?

Old job? Loko at your profile. Would you contact you based on what you see? Perhaps you need to renovate the marketing decor.

Have some new skills? Add them to the slate of existing skills. Then poke your favorite colleagues and ask them to endorse you for the new skills.

Feel you made a fresh impression on a client and proved you could be superhuman in meeting their needs? Hit up the right person there for a recommendation and help them identify the aspects of your work you most want them to accent. Yes, manage the manager.

And your headshot–is it from the PrePandemic Era? Get a professional photographer to reflect the fresh look on your face.

And finally, your Headline. Does it say (VP at XYZ Corp}. That’s not what a casual reader wants to know! (You repeated repeated yourself in Experience anyway!). How do you help clients? Why do you do what  you do? Why are you amazing-er as a co-collaborator? Why you?

“Blank slate, LinkedIn is.” Yoda might say.

Make it work for you as an individual in your own freshest style and words and you will shine.

It’s yours to polish for others or punish yourself.
