Reach out to someone you have fallen out of touch with. Renew a LinkedIn connection.

I did recently, and reestablished a dialog with my first cousin after 48 years! I saw he looked at my LinkedIn profile and I asked,

“Cousin, I see you looked at my profile. How are you? Marc”

And in the ensuing days we generated a few conversations and shared photos and I sent him a recording (on a 78 RPM record that I transferred to my iPhone) of my father coming home to his family reunion after WW2. He shared it with his siblings, my other lost-for-too-long cousins.

Or

Experience the sheer joy to be on the receiving end of this message I received the other day:

“Thank you sooooo much for the referral, I really am so appreciative and I consider myself lucky to have been your client and to have been connected to you! I just started a new job!”

You just never know how much this all means on either end of the conversation, and what it can lead to…

So here’s my challenge to you dear reader: think of just one person to message on LinkedIn today, do it now, correct that you fell out of touch with them.

Send a message to see how they are doing, what’s new, how’s the family.

Make their day. They will add to yours.
