In some of my networking groups, I always get the question, “what’s the newest thing on LinkedIn?”
With over 115 changes to LinkedIn this calendar year alone, it’s mind-boggling how quickly LinkedIn is implementing improvements and changes, sometime without any forewarning. Then you open a function that you are accustomed to using and it looks different. It’s changed visually or functionally.
It is what it is. You know, where does the big gorilla sit?
However:
- Don’t feel you need to keep up with all this moving and shaking. If you want to, go right ahead.
- Be sure your personal profile is the best it can be first.
- That it tells “why” you.
- That others tell how well you do that “why.”
- That it has no typos and you used a fine-tooth comb for missed details.
- That it’s impeccable and brilliant and amazing-er than the competitors.
Why?
No one contacts you after looking at your profile to comment how quick you were to adapt a new change.
They do contact you because you wrote well about the skills you bring to the proverbial table, your past experience making you who you are today, so much so the reader inquires if your future and theirs coincide.
Keep that top of mind.
