That title is a reminder from a LinkedIn Learning course I took, that re-sensitized me to the wisdom of asking for help, as I (re)learned another way to gain consensus around a problematic issue.
It’s not a sign of weakness, but a symptom of maturity. I am so fortunate to surround myself with a coterie of smart people I zoom with on a scheduled weekly/monthly basis to poll their intelligent take on something I need to work on with their input. Or it may be a quick call or impromptu zoom.
It depends on the urgency or the deadline.
We coaches tend to give more advice than we take, or ever ask for. Call that an occupational fault.
Yet as entrepreneurs, we need to help each other (advisee and advisor). which means:
- Someone gives it well and someone takes it unemotionally.
- Processes it.
- Accepts it.
- Implements it.
- Learns from it to adapt to their own.
- Gives it freely to someone else, paying it forward.
Ah, the circle of entrepreneurial life. Jump into the circle and keep it unbroken.
