The LinkedIn cauldron is bubbling, and with over 100 new ingredients this calendar year alone, and the most significant deletion being the profile video that is being left out of the mix effective today, the cooks are concocting a new brew.
While I object to this change, I cannot fight it, so I will double down and make amendments and tweaks to my profile to tell my “why” even better, to appeal to the tastebuds of anyone who wanders by my profile to see what I am cooking up for myself, my connections, and my clients.
Your profile is your compiled and curated career narrative, so make it appealing to all senses: mind, eyes, ears; with color, motion, and impression.
Only you can tell it best. So be a chef and whip up a tasty profile to savor and return to.
This ain’t fast food, you know. No drive-by window to lazily accept whatever they offer. It’s a process, specially made to your own audience. It takes time. You took time to get to this point. You’re in beta, ya know, as Reid Hoffman wrote in “The StartUp of You.”
Choose the best to put together to be even better. It must marinate. It must simmer, and the menu of what you serve to your clientele can always be changed, as you change.
