Attention-it’s not too late, but you need to know about a change LinkedIn is making. Rather odd how they announced it too…So far this year, IMHO, it’s the biggest thing LinkedIn is taking away: the profile video.

It’s that video that opens when a reader clicks on the headshot in your personal profile. If you uploaded it.

If you have not, you still can.

I am not sure why they think it’s important to take this away, especially when they urge us to use multimedia, which I agree is a huge storyteller tool, but that’s where the big gorilla decided to sit.

The good news: you have until June 26 to add one, or edit yours, so it will remain on your profile.

But if you don’t, you’ll never be able to add or change it after that.

So start your creative engines and think about uploading a 30-second video that a reader might open to get a better idea of who you are, what you do better than the competition, and why you do what you do. Branding huh?

The red-circled cartoon graphic in the above inset is mine, a brief animation. Short to fit int he 30 seconds allotted, fun and memorable, I am told.

Others have videos of them speaking to the reader. There’s all sorts of creativity that my connections and clients have added.

Here’s how to add one, before it’s too late.

Or edit your existing one, as a last opportunity!

Seize it as another tool in your self-branding tool box at the very top of your making an impression via your LinkedIn personal profile.

Hey LinkedIn, reverse this decision, please? What are you thinking?
