The question came from a coopetor, because we rely on each other in the world of LinkedIn coaches.
I can’t remember where to find the setting to switch from connect to follow button on the profile? Do you remember where that is located?
Well, first I went to LinkedIn Help and couldn’t find a direct answer. Hmmm. Not there. Odd.
So I googled “change from connect to follow button you LinkedIn profile” and there it was, an AI answer. I will reluctantly admit AI made it easy to find.
Like everything that is challenging to find, once you know where to look, it’s a lot easier.
And yes, dear reader, I do believe LinkedIn is too darned difficult to use. So the answer is, and this is one example of something not being where you would intuitively expect it to be on LinkedIn:
To change your LinkedIn profile button from Connect to Follow, you can do the following on your desktop:
- Go to Privacy Settings
- Select the Visibility tab
- Choose the Visibility of your LinkedIn activity section that you scroll down to
- Select Followers
- Under Make Follow Primary, select Yes.
Now you know too.
Life on LinkedIn does not mean you have to offer yourself to connect to any- and every-one who comes across your profile.
You can opt to let them follow you, by default. But you have to make that change to get to that revised default. Caveat LinkedIn.
