A friend lost a colleague suddenly and posted the news on LinkedIn. Her grief was palpable.

The responses to her were mostly genuinely supportive. Words chosen wisely and thoughtfully.

But someone posted “thoughts and prayers.”

Perhaps the writer meant the comments sincerely, but it seemed so shallow to me. 3 words, little emotional support.

It’s what you say that makes your point. but is that the best you can convey, something hackneyed, overused, less appropriate?

Dig deep, folks, spend time thinking of more meaningful words when you have something to convey in support of someone who has posted a loss, win, achievement, elevation, venture, progression, dare, and/or opinion. You may just surprise yourself that this is a good habit. One that is ancient, as my old high school friend Marcus Aurelius said in the graphic above.

Yes, dig deep. Or dig into the internet for help with your message.
