I am one of the family dancers at my DIL’s sister’s upcoming wedding.
There are a few Bollywood-type dances that evening that the entire family participates in unison, to delight the audience, especially the newlywed couple.
Will I look comfortable dancing? Yes. Because I practiced.
But will I look smooth dancing? Not at first, and then with some time and cautiously confident moves I try to bust out, I won’t care how smooth I look. I am among my family having fun. I am trying, and that’s what counts.
(Backstory: At my son’s wedding, when I reviewed videos of myself in the dance routines, you know what, I didn’t look too pitiful, at least not as much as I expected to appear. So practice makes perfect and dancing within the group those body wiggles, arm movements, and lively dance steps allows us all to gain confidence, knowing that we would never dance for a living, but that’s OK, we made much more than a superficial effort.)
We had fun.
We will have fun at the upcoming wedding dances. Oy, all 3 of them…
Pivot: So this applies to your posts on LinkedIn.
- Try one, then a few, perfect the process.
- Repeat and practice to make them better.
- Keep learning and improving.
- Make music with your thoughts.
- Move your words to dance in the mind of your reader.
- Keep visibly enjoying yourself.
Be available to offer your thought leadership. As my father used to say, “no one dances with a wallflower.”
