When I refer one person to another, I offer a warm note to “grease” the connectivity, by providing context, contact details, and both LinkedIn URLs.

I end with “Let me hear great things coming from this connection.”

Sometimes I do, sometimes not. That does not deter me.

I am a contagious referrer. I admit it.

I infer opportunities for both receivers. I offer myself as a reference, my reputation and judgement on the line to both parties.

See-saw.

If it works out, I am elated. Very often it does.

If it does not, and I do not hear happy news, I ask what happened.

I learn from misjudgments. I learn from successes. I am learning daily. I climb aboard the see-saw again.

How often do you offer yourself as the fulcrum for others to enjoy the ride? Offer one more time than your habit. Grow.
