Two appointments confirmed for the same afternoon. Or should I say “dis-appointments”?

They approached me.

I allocated over 2 hours for the combined efforts: prep, time spent with them, thank yous, follow-up.

One stood me up–for her own podcast I might add–and the next morning sent me a lame email to say we needed to reschedule. No tangible reason given for cancelling and for not communicating with me within minutes of “failing to launch.”

The other finally showed up for a scheduled zoom chat a half-hour late. I was already off the zoom platform after 5 minutes’ wait. Again, no text, email, phone call, nothing.

This is not a bonus of “found time.” It IS an issue of disrespect and lack of consideration for others. Yes, you know, the hallowed 50-50 of network relationships.

I wonder:

  • What were you both thinking?
  • Do you have so little regard for my time and attention, espcially if you approached me?
  • Twice in one day; is this a trend? (Have you readers seen an uptick in this?)

Folks, don’t do this to others. Ever. Get in front of the problem and let the other party know asap that you are appreciative of their time commitmnent. Apologize. Counteroffer with both an reasonable excuse and with something tangible.

I’ll be disappointed, more disturbed, most disdained if this is something we will come to expect as a new normal. I hope that it’s not.
