I saw this on my LinkedIn feed.

My mind immediately skipped to worry about Danny (his face and last name masked to protect him–at least I will help him if he will not). Not because he will be unsafe in the Maldives; rather, he’s on his way to a dream vacation he earned from his company and bravo to him.

But…he just enrolled himself in “pleaserobmyhouse.com.”

To be clear, I do not wish him any harm. I just hope he comes home to find everything in order, as he left it, untouched by nefarious fingers.

Because he just advertised that he will be away, far far away, to notify a billion people, not all of them honorable.

  1. Moral of this story: don’t tell us you are going away, on social media, or LinkedIn.
  2. Another moral: don’t list your home address in your Contact Info if you work from home. Use city and state only.

Don’t do either 1 or 2. above. Or you will wish you never had.
