LinkedIn has, and is changing. What you need to know as we enter the new month:

  1. Your using hashtags are no longer spread to those following them. I am not sure why LinkedIn squashed them so. But you may still want to use them so they appear in bold font in a post or comment.
  2. Everyone gets Creator Mode. See LinkedIn Help’s comments on the changes last month and this month as it is rolled out. Not that CM was elitist, it was just not distributed evenly and they are equalizing that. Use CM for its best attributes to be seen.
  3. Video will be optimized. Recent studies show that video in portrait layout is more likely to be opened especially since most people have migrated to using the LinkedIn app on their smart phones. Not that I report what others have decided the algo is telling us, but this shift to portrait is only common sense in my eyes.

Bonus:  one thing I will agree with, from studies of the algomonster, because it stands to reason, is that shorter posts and comments get more interactions. Again, common sense tells me most readers are short on attention so they scan, and thus my strong suggestion is to shorten your message and let a video or graphic tell more of the story. They will not read you droning on with something you find essential to pontificate on. Suggestion: serialize the long post into component parts over a few consecutive days.

My 4 C’s, right? Concise, cogent, consistent, compelling. Be at least 1 C, more if you can. Practice.
