Here’s a dirty dozen apprehensions we all face and ask ourselves in our lizard brains. We are bogged in self-doubt in a global mixing pot of ideas and connections. How do we assess the improvements to make when all these quandaries roll through our heads in rapid succession?
These are some queries I hear from others I coach and train, and I will admit a few rumble through my head from time to time.
- Should I offer to connect to that person?
- Or should I follow them?
- Should I accept their connection invitation?
- Should I show I want to know something about them? Should they be able to help me? Me to them?
- Should I post on a topic to ask for help? Does that make me look weak?
- Should I post on a topic I know a lot about? Does that make me look like an imposter? An arrogant expert?
- Should I comment on someone’s post? Does it help them make their case? Does anyone care what I offer as my perspective?
- Should I stay on top of the latest changes on LinkedIn? Or should I spend my energy perfecting my profile sections to say why I do what I do?
- Should I ask AI to get me out of my writing rut?
- Should I attach multimedia? Or will anyone spend the time?
- Should I show vulnerability in my profile as my human side?
- Or should I be all business and tough as nails?
Or should I/you play LinkedIn as a long game of self-determination and self-journey? As a therapy to relieve the mental ether of “I cannot” with the booming roar of “I can.” Should you care enough about yourself to overcome your demons? To that, an emphatic YES!
