Next week in the USA is Thanksgiving.
Our holiday reflects on bounty, family, abundance of spirit, and–oh yeah–a big meal. Based on history, perhaps, English Pilgrims (or were they Puritans?) reaching Plymouth Rock (not very impressive a rock I may say!) invoked putting supremacy aside and ate with the indigenous people (or so the saga goes).
Fast forward 400 years: leaves to rake (or not to ensure a haven for bugs and animals), endless TV football (our type!), beginning the holiday retail season, and leftover turkey in sandwiches. Yea, the food frenzy continues until after the New Year.
Is the world perfect, equal, free of despair, cured of hatred, lacking a ton of angst? Not at all. I worry for the incredibly complex issues we face domestically, internationally, and interpersonally.
I contribute what I believe to be my “dues.” I appreciate others’ as well. We learn from each other, not once but frequently. In the past 11 months I identified individuals whom I wanted to share thoughts with, some scheduled weekly, some 2x a month, some monthly, some ad hoc, but we all share and discuss with no agenda or prejudgment. We laugh, we go deep, we cajole, we share our best selves.
You know who you are. Thanks given to you for the nutritive value you offer me. You already know I mean that.
Please share this nugget with others:
