I received an email from a Mexican organization whose street address struck me: Calle Sin Nombre. In Spanish, a street with no name.

Like a man without a country. Or a woman…

Or a horse with no name as the song goes.

No identity.

But enough to receive their mail at their door? It struck me as a LOL moment although it was not meant to be.

Like when I see marketing experts with boring, bland, resume-y LinkedIn profiles. They can make their client sparkle but they lack luster.

Like when I read the profiles of accomplished entrepreneurs before I get to speak to them, and I am unimpressed, because they held back.

A basic human feeling of inadequacy? Or lack of care? Holier than thou?

In all cases. not too impressive to me, and sometimes not enough for me to pursue.

Cue Road Runner cartoons {meep meep} and his cloud of dust.

When people hunt for you, in hopes to read your career narrative profile and you fail to appear worthwhile, the nanoseconds of time they expect to spend at first tick past, unless you somehow convince them to stay longer, read further down your profile, learn more and enough about you to fall in “like” with you enough to contact you to engage, based on your expert use of language and graphics.

Did you earn that extra time? That extra step to find out more about you?

Or {poof!} are they gone? They already forgot you as they approach your competiutor.

Recall that anvil that squishes the Coyote every single episode, it just hit you.
