It’s happened to me before, and I saw it happen to another person recently (except I am convinced he accidentally hit the “delete” button for that section).

In my situation while I was teaching online, my thoughts got a step or two ahead of my fingers, and suddenly a part of my LinkedIn profile was gone.

Poof, disappeared.

And after working so hard on it!

And I could not get LinkedIn to restore it, so as I have learned, it’s always a good idea to get and store your entire profile, in reserve, for that unfortunate situation.

It’s easy to order and takes LinkedIn 24 hours to send you a complete download of your current data, yes all of it. And immediately when you ask for it, you get a few pieces of it right away.

So here’s how:

  • Click the tiny round picture of yourself called “Me” on the top right of any LinkedIn page.
  • Click “Settings and Privacy”
  • Click “Data Privacy” in the left column
  • Click “Get a copy of your data” on the third line of the right column
  • Select all your data or the selected sections you need.
  • The data comes to you by email in a zip file to download to your hard drive.
  • Keep that for later use, which I hope you never need.

Thank me later, which I hope you never have to.

Backup your LinkedIn data.
