Not every week poses ponderous questions, so I will have to improvise today.
I get this often from clients, consciously and subconsciously, asking: Is it OK to be amidst change in your career?
And if you know me, I embraced change in my career, in big and little steps, especially the ones beneficial to my clients.
So I say, absorb change. You probably already are, subtly and not so.
Look at yourself from 30 thousand feet: is the course you are tracking a new one, one that is slightly different from where you were a few months ago, or exactly the same?
No answer is right or wrong.
But if you are in the middle of change, about to change, or not comfortable with change, embrace the ability to adapt and adopt new concepts to improve yourself and your message to your audience.
I have mentioned here that I am learning DVL (digital visual literacy) and am anxious to apply it to my presentations to make their impact more absorbable to those who learn visually, as well as orally.
A few weeks ago, I finished reading the second edition of Reid Hoffman’s book “The Startup of You,” post-pandemically improved over his first edition. The fact that he needed a second edition meant he embraced the change we endured over the past 3 years and pulled from the global experience those lessons for us to learn and implement as our world changed convulsively, and we did too.
One of his precepts in the book is that you are always in beta. You are never a finished product or service since you adapt to the environment you serve.
Relent to this. It’s liberating!
Embrace your change. Revel in it. Make it yours. Any questions?
