Every week on Thursday afternoon, I have calendarized a task to onboard the week’s new LinkedIn connections.
It helps me engage with them after a few days’ absence and reminds them that I value the privilege of being connected with my own first step, investing my ideas with them to help them do better, be amazing-er, and if you know me, that’s my “why,” really.
You can do this too. I’ll make it easy for you. Copy this and send it as a message to them, individualized as needed:
{first name}, One of the things I like to do to draw new LinkedIn connections into my connection group is on-board them with a recent blog post. Here’s one from this past week and I hope it helps you in some way: https://connect2collaborate.com/2023/05/02/back-to-basics-tuesday-bs-connection-requests-and-a-remedy-at-last/.
Please feel free to comment on my posts and blog installments. Stay in touch, because that’s good for both our business interests! Right?
{And thanks for attending my panel discussion session yesterday too!–or another custom message.}

The replies are so indicative of the personalities I get to interface with:
Hey Marc, thanks for sharing this article! I’ll check it out soon 🙂
Great, thank you for sharing. I will take a look!
Love this!!!
Or no reply comes back, which is ok too.
But I know I took the first step in starting a relationship and isn’t that what LinkedIn is all about? Conversing with peers and differentiating yourself in some tangible way vs. the competition, around the global electronic watercooler that is LinkedIn.
Try it. You’ll like it. They will too.
