5fingersThis starts a 5-part series of my quickest suggestions for becoming a LinkedIn star.

Of course, this presupposes you have been taking my advice in this blog all along (have you?)!

Number One: Make an immediate impression

DO NOT BE LAZY; DO NOT USE the default greeting, Ever. Instead of the tired, boring

“I’d like to add you to my professional network on LinkedIn.       -Marc W.”

that LinkedIn provides you, erase it and meaningfully ask people to connect to you on LinkedIn like you mean it; use a personalized note such as:

Bob, thank you for the great conversation after today’s XYZ Assn. luncheon about ways we could work with each other.  Later this week I will follow up on the areas we discussed.

So first please join my amazing group of professional connections on LinkedIn. Best regards and speak to you soon, Marc

Remind them where you met them/worked with them. Then follow up on your promised items to reinforce your reliability and increase the branding of “why you.”

Tomorrow, Number Two: “Invest your time wisely”
