Recent college grads and those who love them: a story in NY Times http://lnkd.in/diUR-NH is about the frustration of finding that first job out of school, especially focussing on 2 grads.
I looked up one of them on LinkedIn.
My advice to Jelani Thomas, one of the featured grads in the article: buff up your LinkedIn profile to tell more about WHY YOU—this is not a copy-paste of the resume.
Your profile is pedestrian. I’ll bet you have so much more to tell, but did not say much on your profile. You have missed the opportunity on LinkedIn to tell your story in a way that will differentiate you from the competition.
I am truly disappointed at how some colleges and universities do not teach LinkedIn well, or seemingly at all. It’s such an important business tool in self-marketing.
