The client has a rich work history. But he tells too little of the important transferable skills that others seek and too much of the details of his escapades from another century (i.e., pre-2000).
We don’t always know what others seek. And everyone comes with preset factors they alone find interesting in their hunt.
Unfortunately, we don’t know how far is too far, until it is too late, as their eyes glaze in boredom.
We need to strive for “Goldilocks’ just-right,” enough to make all the other noise in the proverbial room disappear and all they pay laser-focused, rapt attention to is what we need them to know. Then they can decide to pursue our special touch.
Easy? No.
Required? Yes, in today’s very noisy world.
