Workaversaries

yellow and black pedestrian line

LinkedIn is good at telling your connections when you have a work anniversary.

But do not let the readers congratulate you by chance. I say tell us what you learned since last year. Tell us what you have learned in x years as {your specific role, or generally as an entrepreneur}.

I say you need to remind us that you offer a unique perspective and refined skill set to be recalled when someone is asked, “hey, do you know anyone who does {your field of work specialty}?”

At least annually dig deep and tell us what lessons you learned, good ones, or from errors come new insight.

At least monthly give us an idea of upcoming presentations or conferences you are attending or speaking at.

At least weekly share something you read that can illuminate others to your curation and voluntarily contributing great material.

At least every weekend, welcome new connections to your amazing-er group colleagues by sharing an article you came across, a podcast you enjoyed, a blog post that resonated with you, just let them know what a privilege it is to be connected.

At least daily congratulate someone on their work anniversary, with more than a lame emoji (here he goes again, you must be thinking!)

Appreciate your connections and followers and they will do so to you. It’s a 2-way street.
