It’s likely you may have some down time. Have you looked to see if any LinkedIn connections live there?
It’s also not a good idea to announce on LinkedIn that you will be away if your home is unattended, especially if your home address is on the internet. And it is, believe me. Can we call that “robmyhouse.com”? Once we were passing through a city where we knew a friend lived and wanted to call her. We googled her. We could see how much she paid for her house (and her address of course) but could not find her phone number.
Just because LinkedIn provides an “out of office” message to premium subscribers, in some cases, it may not make sense to use it.
If you do go away, be smart about it–tell us after the fact, after you have had time to reflect on what you learned and how your new knowledge can help your readers.
