Back to basics Tuesday: Do I need to pay for LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is a business. A big business.

They deserve to earn money from subscriptions, job listings, and advertisements.

You can determine if their premium subscription services match your needs at this link.

But my reader, tread carefully.

  • Choose what makes sense for your specific needs and budget.
  • Choose a monthly subscription (NOT an annual one to get the lower rate) because your needs may change over time and you may want to close the subscription. They do not refund. Period.
  • You may want to upgrade and later downgrade the level.
  • Just do not forget they charge you every month until you contact them and close it.

I saved one company over $23 thousand dollars a year from subscriptions the employees had, but they never used or needed.

I can tell you from so many clients who have lamented and exasperated in painful “oh no!”s when I asked them why they pay monthly for LinkedIn, collected over the years, that they forgot having a monthly subscription.

Please don’t be an exasperated lamenter. BTW I do not pay for it and I am a power user.
