Recommendations on LinkedIn

I think that LinkedIn makes it extremely difficult to intuit the right place to ask for a recommendation.

One of my colleagues thought he could email the request to the recommender, but alas it’s just not easy.

So to relieve confusion, and hopefully spur you on to ask for smart recommendations (with guidance to the writer what you want him/her to write about; more on that tomorrow), here are instructions for asking:
