I try to welcome all new connections with something they can use right away.
I said “try.”
I want to be memorable and helpful to my new colleagues.
But just like I do not post something substandard for the sake of posting, I also only onboard new connections when I have something they can use.
Don’t cry wolf.
Be real, meaningful, and intelligent about how you assist someone.
Then when they receive it, they glow in knowing you thought about them, you offered your time and help, and they will be more likely to reciprocate.
And that gets us to the point of business brand communication: interactive conversation across boundaries (however you define them).
Be conversant with meaningful solutions and they will remember and refer you for it.
What do you do to onboard a new connection?
