I’ve mentioned this before and I will menschen it here again. (Not a typo).
Likes and the other emojis on LinkedIn may look fun, but are they reflective of you as a brand?
Isn’t this just eye candy?
Really, folks…hear me out. Yes, I know you are busy so a quick flick of an emoji on someone’s work anniversary or other good news may seem adequate to say “good job.” but do you really want to be just adequate?
Just because LinkedIn gave you emojis doesn’t mean you have to use them! Show your ingenuity and sincerity. Be a brand. Be beyond the norm, be amazing-er as I say.
Think of something nice to say and key that thought in to the comments, so the recipient will remember you. Because no one remembers you gave them a like or a celebrate or any of these other lazy (yes I said lazy) symbols. Use professional ways to congratulate and encourage someone, in words. Here’s a recent example:
Brava to you and your colleagues on this achievement!”
It took all of 3 seconds to type it and it will go a lot further than a thumbs up.
So brand yourself as a mensch as mentioned here before.
And please DO NOT like this post, Tell me WHY you like it, in words.
