I am territorial.
I can be competitive.
I can be closed minded when I feel my turf is threatened.
I can be overly suspicious.
I shall learn from my mistakes.
Perhaps I need to write that last sentence on the chalkboard 100 times after school.
A competitor asked me to coffee. He had something to discuss. I was suspicious of his now being in my state, my sacred ground, to offer his services, around mine.
The end result of the meeting is a collaboration and joint proposal to a well-recognized name company in the area. If it comes off, it will be a boost for both of us, so I hope it goes as well as I now expect it will, a realization I have after our meeting.
I can jump to conclusions with my heart and not my head. Mea culpa.
