I had to fit in a mention of Small Business Week that ends tomorrow.
Statistics I read (according to the Small Business Association) indicate that small businesses make up 99.7 percent of US firms and 2 out of every 3 jobs in the US.
That’s pretty significant. No, very.
I wonder if that double-counts a lawyer who owns another company that invests in real estate, or a CPA who has another business interest as part-owner of a jazz club in the night life district, or an architect who operates a business as a Saturday-night-chef-for-hire to come to your home and cook.
I wonder if that triple counts people like me with 3 businesses.
And not every business hires employees. Many solos are happy that way, and engage ad hoc experts.
Figures can be deceiving, but they do tell us one thing: small business is a force to be reckoned with.
I hope that politicians, nonprofit professionals, medical practices, retailers, e-tailers, and veterans see the benefit that LinkedIn can provide their professional pursuit(s) or budding business(es) as the economy continues to improve.
That’s all, just an optimistic view for the near-end of Small Business Week, with a LinkedIn twist.
Hear us roar.
