When you say one thing and mean something else, are unclear about your purpose on LinkedIn, or worse, are lying, most of us can see right through it.
Don’t aggrandize. Don’t twist the facts. Your past associates will call you down.
I also get a number of messages from people who don’t know what to do when they receive a connection request from a bogus person or are harassed by a connection request.
Here’re a few things you can do to protect yourself and the rest of us:
- False identity: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/56325?query=false%20identity
- Harassment: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/42605?query=harassment
Be real. Use LinkedIn for the power tool it is.
Eat your vegetables.
