Publish or perish, in entrepreneurship it is the same as in academia.
Give others your unique POV and let it shine. It’s your differentiator, your value prop, your competitive edge: all in a cacophonous world, so ring in clearly and frequently!
Yesterday after a long time out of touch, I spoke to a colleague and in updating each other, he advised me he had published in a major business-oriented e-zine as well as was interviewed twice on cable news websites.
How did I miss this? I asked.
He had not told me, or anyone, about it, on LinkedIn, or on any other social media.
You have to tell us, I urged.
Getting published on major news sources these days is a coup. But don’t stop there, once it’s been published, online or on paper, let the social media world know:
- Post it on LinkedIn in your updates on the day of publication and
- later memorialize it in the Publications section of your LinkedIn personal profile, and
- add it to your company profile as well to update your followers as well, and
- if appropriate, share the link and a brief comment on your Group pages.
But tell us, I advised: share good news so we can root you on. Because we want to help, and we reciprocate the publicity.
Yes, that’s why it’s called social media…

I refer to your advise as Corey Bearak 202 (101 is something else). Excellent advice. And just this afternoon was on the phone with a fellow attorney and friend urging him to share a nice article and pic of his involvement in helping homeless folk. This kind of stuff should be de rigeur for all of us.
