LIGroupsapplogoYou know the power of LinkedIn groups: virtual silos of like-minded experts that you can tap into for specific topics.

Given freely and openly, globally 24 x 7 x 365.

Can it get better than that?

Yes it can.

LinkedIn just upgraded its iPhone experience in a brand spankin’ new app called LinkedIn Groups, and it gives you instant access to groups you are already a member, so you have access to the mighty brain trust on the run.

In a meeting and need a quick answer? Whip out that iPhone and ask away. In minutes (hopefully!) you will get some opinions from experts.

Sorry not on ipad or for Android and other non-iOS users. This will come for you eventually.

My excitement? It’s  a big advancement as I believe LinkedIn has taken a first step, recognizing that their smartphone version is clunky and hard to use. Up to now, the smartphone version has certainly been nothing like the desktop experience. This is one amendment between the two versions…breaking it into pieces that work well…Keep going LinkedIn guys!

Reader: your job is now to be sure you are a member of the right groups (get in there and make some changes-delete the old ones and join new ones (or ask to join if they are “closed” groups).

You can join as many as 50 groups. Become a topic expert in one or more groups if there is a call for insight.

Get in the mix–participate on the go in a wholesome, positive way in the group so you are visible.

Because who asks a wallflower to dance?
