Sometimes I just have to let LinkedIn speak for itself because I cannot put better or more intelligent words to this.  As of this week there’s some good news and some not-so-good-news (and my comments are in parentheses and italicized).

“We’ve goodnewsrecently improved the LinkedIn people search experience, so that you can now view full names and profiles of anyone in your extended network (1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree), regardless of whether you’re connected or have a Premium account (the good news).

(The bad news:) This improved network visibility also includes a limit based on search usage. If you reach the commercial use limit, your activity on LinkedIn indicates that you’re likely using LinkedIn for commercial use, like hiring or prospecting. This limit is calculated based on your search activity since the first of the calendar month.

A progress bar will appear in your search results when 30% of your searches are left, and will continue to remind you in 5% increments. After you’ve reached the limit, you’ll continue to be able to search, but will see a limited number of results. Your free monthly usage will reset on the 1st of each calendar month.

  • Note: We’re not able to display the exact number of searches you have left. (Really? You should be able to!)

And now for the advertisement: You can always upgrade to LinkedIn Premium (Business Plus, Recruiter or Sales Navigator) for unlimited searches or wait for the limit to reset at the beginning of the month. Learn more about the commercial use limit for search.”

Sad. Today I am just reporting the news from LinkedIn.
